Shimeji Mushroom (Raw)

TLDRLast updated 27 September 2026

Shimeji mushrooms are low FODMAP at 75 g raw weight, roughly one cup, in the Monash app. A larger 109 g serving is moderate in mannitol and 164 g is high. The green reference can help with meal planning, but it does not mean any size of shimeji serving has the same rating.

Is shimeji mushroom (raw) low FODMAP?

All six FODMAP groups are green at 75 g. The app then describes 109 g as one and a half cups and 164 g as two and a quarter cups. Mannitol turns amber and red at those larger amounts, while fructose, lactose, sorbitol, GOS and fructans remain green. Use those as observed reference points, not an exact threshold calculated between them.

Shimeji Mushroom (Raw) and IBS: what to know

Shimeji and enoki may both be sold in clusters, yet their checked portions differ. Keep the variety name and raw weight in your meal notes if you are comparing tolerance. A green shimeji portion does not settle the FODMAP content of a stir-fry sauce or a mixed mushroom hotpot.

Gut-friendly ways to eat shimeji mushroom (raw)

Prepare the cluster according to its pack instructions and weigh the mushroom portion before cooking. Distribute it evenly when making a shared pan of noodles or vegetables. If you combine shimeji with other varieties, record each type rather than treating the combined weight as pure shimeji. The app entry does not give a conversion from raw grams to the weight after cooking.

Frequently asked questions

Can I eat a whole packet of shimeji?

Check the edible raw weight and how much of the packet you will eat. The verified portions are 75 g green, 109 g amber and 164 g red; package sizes are not a serving standard.

Which FODMAP limits larger shimeji servings?

Mannitol is the group shown as moderate at 109 g and high at 164 g. The other five groups remain green at the displayed points.

Does a cooked cup equal the app's one cup?

The one-cup reference is 75 g of raw shimeji. Cooking changes the weight and volume, so a cup scooped from the finished dish is not a verified equivalent.
