Is purple cauliflower (raw) low FODMAP?

All six FODMAP groups are green in the purple-cauliflower panel at 75 g. Fructose is amber at 112 g, around one cup, and red at 150 g, around one and a half cups. Mannitol stays green in all three observed panels, as do lactose, sorbitol, GOS and fructans.

Purple Cauliflower (Raw) and IBS: what to know

Keep the variety visible when documenting cauliflower meals. A vegetable labelled simply 'cauliflower' may not establish that it matches this purple entry. For mixed-colour florets, identifying and weighing the ingredients separately gives better information than assigning the whole mix one colour's reference.

Gut-friendly ways to eat purple cauliflower (raw)

Weigh prepared raw purple cauliflower before roasting, steaming or chopping it for a salad. A cauliflower-based rice substitute or large roasted portion can use more of the vegetable than a small side, so note the starting amount. For other colourful vegetables, compare raw red cabbage and sugar snap peas through their own food guides.

Frequently asked questions

Is mannitol the issue shown for purple cauliflower here?

No. In the exact purple-cauliflower panels inspected, mannitol remains green and fructose changes with the larger portions.

Can a bag of mixed cauliflower florets use this rating?

Only the purple-cauliflower entry was verified for this page. A mixture of varieties requires attention to which ingredients and amounts it contains.

Does finely chopping cauliflower change the reference weight?

This check gives no separate result for a finely chopped preparation. Keep track of the raw ingredient amount rather than assuming smaller pieces establish a different allowance.
