Is mung bean vermicelli (cooked) low FODMAP?

At 113 g, the detail panel is green for GOS, fructans, fructose, lactose, sorbitol and mannitol. Although the name contains a legume, the tested food is a noodle preparation. Use its own result instead of carrying a whole-bean rating across to vermicelli, or assuming that the noodle result describes other mung bean products.

Mung Bean Vermicelli (Cooked) and IBS: what to know

For someone with IBS, these noodles can be considered separately from the dressing or stock in the finished dish. A green food rating cannot predict every person's response to a large mixed meal. If you are reviewing a troublesome noodle salad, record its ingredients and portion as well as the name of the noodles.

Gut-friendly ways to eat mung bean vermicelli (cooked)

Check that your packet identifies mung bean vermicelli; visually similar clear noodles may use other ingredients. Follow its cooking directions and drain before measuring a serving. Add dressing gradually so you can keep track of how much enters your bowl. Sweet potato vermicelli is a separate option with its own directly checked entry.

Frequently asked questions

Does this mean whole mung beans have the same rating?

No. The app observation concerns cooked vermicelli. A whole bean is a different food and should be checked under its own entry.

Are all glass noodles covered by this guide?

No. Glass noodles can differ in ingredients. Match the mung bean noodle description and inspect any additional flour or seasoning.

Is a mung bean noodle salad automatically low FODMAP?

The noodle result alone cannot establish that. The dressing, vegetables and other ingredients determine the composition of the finished salad.
