Lotus Root (Dried)

TLDRLast updated 27 September 2026

Dried lotus root has a very small low-FODMAP reference of 1 g in the checked Monash entry. At 2 g it is moderate, while the 65 g half-cup serving is high. These are dried-food weights; they should not be replaced by the weight of lotus root after soaking.

Is lotus root (dried) low FODMAP?

The 1 g panel has six green indicators. Fructose becomes amber at 2 g while the other groups stay green. At 65 g, fructose and fructans are both red; lactose, mannitol, sorbitol and GOS remain green. The group pattern therefore changes as well as the overall rating.

Lotus Root (Dried) and IBS: what to know

The tiny green amount makes estimating by slice count or a pinch unreliable. If your scale cannot distinguish such a small quantity, the guide does not provide another verified household measure to use in its place. Consider the separately tested frozen lotus root entry when choosing a preparation for a substantial vegetable component.

Gut-friendly ways to eat lotus root (dried)

Weigh any dried lotus root before following the package's soaking and cooking directions. The check did not establish that a particular soaking method makes a larger dry portion low FODMAP. Raw lotus root has its own green, amber and red references and cannot be substituted gram-for-gram for dried slices.

Frequently asked questions

Is half a cup of dried lotus root low FODMAP?

The checked half-cup reference weighs 65 g and is high in two groups. It is not the green serving.

Can I weigh the slices after soaking instead?

That would be a different water content from the dried reference. This check does not give a conversion from soaked weight back to dry weight.

Does freezing fresh lotus root prove it will match the frozen app result?

The separate app entries report their own tested preparations. They do not demonstrate that a home process reproduces another entry's FODMAP profile.
